Langley Main Floor Renovation

Project overview

Designed for a busy family of six, this Langley townhouse renovation was all about making the most of every square foot. By completely rethinking the main floor layout, the kitchen was moved to the heart of the home, creating better flow, significantly more storage, and new spaces for the family to gather. Rich wood cabinetry, warm brass details, custom millwork, and traditional architectural elements bring character throughout, creating a home that feels larger, more functional, and distinctly its own.

Renovation details

The transformation required a complete reworking of the main floor. An existing bathroom and pantry were removed, allowing the kitchen to move into a more central location and making room for a new sitting room framed by a seven-foot opening and custom sliding pocket doors. A generous 9’6″ island became the centerpiece of the kitchen, while the redesigned cabinetry more than doubled the home’s storage.

Behind the finished spaces was extensive technical work. Plumbing, gas lines, drainage and ductwork were relocated to accommodate the new layout, including carefully concealing ductwork within the cabinetry and crown moulding. The floors were extensively levelled before installing wide plank engineered hardwood, and custom millwork, wainscotting, crown moulding and a new lighting plan were carried throughout the home.

The kitchen’s arched plaster hood, double ogee countertops, warm wood cabinetry and brass accents give the space its distinctive character, while thoughtful additions such as the sitting room and a converted stair landing reading nook make the home work beautifully for everyday family life.
