A Stunning Kitchen Makeover
When a young family moved into this Capstan home, they envisioned a home where they’d enjoy decades good times in a space that was conducive to their lifestyle. But the layout of the home was conventional, with a closed-off kitchen and what seemed like a lot of smaller rooms.
As their family grew, it was clear the home — and especially the kitchen — needed a redo. The client’s main request: make more room and open that kitchen up!
We started with a complete reconfiguration of the kitchen, allowing for an open-concept space that flowed into dining and living areas. The new hub is the large kitchen island, which is topped by a stunning counter top slab that measures five by seven feet — massive enough for dinner party food prep, family round-table meetings, and the most elaborate science project homework assignments ever!
But just because a kitchen must be pragmatic to serve a growing family, doesn’t mean it can’t have a few luxury touches, too. The fully-customized cabinetry has soft-close hinges on all doors and drawers, minimizing noise and effort for busy people. The double wall oven and bar fridge, by request of the main chef in the house, are dream list items that we worked in, along with a multi-purpose desk area that serves as command central for important business and homework spot for weekday nights.
Pot lights throughout, including in the new walk-in pantry, complete the look and add targeted lighting for food prep, homework, and mood-setting.
