Hubbard Home Remodel

This project began with a family’s vision to expand their home and create a more functional, modern space. To achieve it, we essentially rebuilt the entire house, bringing it down nearly to the foundation while carefully salvaging a few walls on the main floor. The transformation added significant square footage, which allowed for a complete reconfiguration of both the main and upper levels.

On the main floor, the original laundry room was converted into a full bathroom with a walk in shower. A former den was reimagined into a spacious mudroom, giving the family much needed storage and everyday functionality.

Upstairs, the original layout included three bedrooms. By filling in the vaulted ceiling area and adding new square footage, we were able to reconfigure the plan while maintaining the same number of bedrooms. The master suite now feels expansive, featuring a huge walk in closet and a large ensuite retreat. The additional space also allowed for a generous laundry room and a bright, open gym with expansive windows. Ten foot ceilings on this level add to the sense of volume and light.

Natural light and connection to the outdoors became central to the design. At the back of the home, full height windows frame the lush green belt, providing a calming outlook from both the main and upper levels. An enlarged deck, partially covered by a vaulted roof with a ceiling mounted gas heater, extends that connection outdoors and offers a cozy place to enjoy the view year round.

Inside, the main living spaces are warm and inviting, with a striking black walnut built in mantel and cabinetry anchoring the living room. The custom plastered range hood and quartz slab backsplash in the kitchen give a refined touch, while thoughtful details like a cushioned bench in the entry, built in window seats, and floating vanities with under cabinet lighting add both comfort and character. The staircase itself becomes a design feature with integrated tread lighting that guides the way at night.

Behind the walls, the home was upgraded from top to bottom. Structural reinforcement and foundation work provided a stronger base, while all new insulation, wiring, and a two hundred amp service upgrade modernized the core. Comfort and efficiency were prioritized with the addition of air conditioning, a tankless water heater, and a heat recovery ventilator system. Altogether, every detail, from the hidden mechanical systems to the visible finishes, was reimagined to create a home that is as functional as it is beautiful, designed for modern living today and for years to come.
